Sappho
Sappho was an ancient Greek poet from Lesbos, famous for her beautiful lyric poetry meant to be sung with music. She was highly regarded as one of the greatest lyric poets, earning titles like "Tenth Muse" and "The Poetess."
For my liberal arts final project at Montserrat, I created a work inspired by Sappho's poignant poems about her bond with Aphrodite. My illustration conveys the emotions she felt while writing “Ode to Aphrodite,” depicting a modern Sappho longing for her, despite time passing. The lush greenery around Aphrodite's statue symbolizes the enduring connection Sappho has across the ages.
