Twenty One Pilots Swiss Style Poster

Twenty One Pilots is an American-based duo from Columbus, Ohio, known for their singles "Stressed Out", "Ride", and "Heathens". They gained fame with their Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for "Stressed Out". The band initially released two albums, Twenty One Pilots (2009) and Regional at Best (2011), before signing with Fueled by Ramen in 2012. Their debut album, Vessel (2013), became the first and only band to earn gold or platinum awards on two albums. Their fourth album, Blurryface (2015), produced hit singles and became the first album with every track receiving at least a gold certification. The duo has released three more studio albums and ten number-one songs on the Alternative Songs chart.

Swiss style, also known as Swiss school or Swiss design, is a graphic design trend that emerged in the 1950s-1960s, influenced by international trends like International Typographic Style, Russian Constructivism, Bauhaus school tradition, International Style, and classical modernism. It is associated with Swiss graphic artists and has spread globally.

During my typography class at Montserrat, I had the privilege of learning about various distinctive styles of designing along with their rich history. One of the notable styles we explored was the classic Swiss style of designing, known for its clean lines and minimalist approach.

As part of our coursework, we were instructed to create a Swiss-style poster based on a band or music group of our choice. I decided to focus on my favorite band, Twenty One Pilots.

For my project, I took the poster that they had released with their most recent album and tour titled “Clancy.” I aimed to incorporate as many details from the original poster as I could, including elements such as the vibrant colors and add little motifs in the background. These additions were choices I felt would complement the poster beautifully and would serve as delightful surprises for fellow Twenty One Pilots fans.

I genuinely had an immense amount of fun working on this assignment. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I found myself inspired to create additional posters to accompany the Swiss-style one for even more creative expression.
