Life and Death Poster

Life and Death is a profound concept that every human being inevitably grapples with throughout their existence. From the fear of the unknown future to the excitement of new possibilities that await us, the duality of life and death is what fundamentally defines our humanity. This intricate relationship shapes our experiences, influences our decisions, and ultimately enriches our journey on this Earth.

While at Monserrat, I had the exciting and rewarding task of partnering with a fellow student who was taking a printmaking class at the same time as my design class.

We were assigned the objective of creating a poster that could be effectively transferred from a digital format to the printmaking medium. I took on the responsibility of designing the poster while my partner skillfully handled the printing aspect.

I was instructed to stick to a monochrome color palette, which presented a bit of a challenge for me, as I am typically the type of person who enjoys stretching out and incorporating as many colors as possible (sometimes a few too many).

However, once I learned about how the printmaking process works through my partner, I developed a much better understanding of both the medium and the intricate process involved in printing a poster this large. the poster we had printed needed to be 24 x 32 inches which is the biggest project I’ve every done that didn’t include a regular printer.

Honestly, my printmaking partner had the most challenging part of this entire creative endeavor. But despite those hurdles, I believe we both truly enjoyed the experience nonetheless.
